Are You Ready for Your Thanksgiving Guests?

Preparing your home for the holidays can be a lot of work, especially if you’re expecting a large number of guests. With Thanksgiving being right around the corner, it’s important to ensure your plumbing is ready for the worst! Garbage disposals, sink drains, toilets and more all require upkeep.

Kitchen Clogged sinks:

The kitchen is busy during Thanksgiving, which means so are your appliances that work so diligently through the hustle and bustle! In order to avoid a kitchen disaster, there are some things you must remember:

  • Oils and greasy substances build up in your sink drains and make it more susceptible to clogging. Cooking oil is commonly used for many recipes, so try to dispose of it in a trashcan. Even if you haven’t used a cooking oil, just the cooking process itself can produce grease. Recyclable paper towels are a smart choice for wiping up any of these messy substances.

  • If you need to separate foods from one another, be sure to use a strainer. This will prevent large items from falling inside of the drain that could possibly cause issues later on.

Bathroom Clogged toilets:

Unfortunately, clogged toilets aren’t limited to the holidays; they are easily created and unpleasant to clean up. Here’s some reminders of what NOT to flush down the toilet:

  • Cotton balls and swabs

  • Disposable diapers

  • Sanitary napkins

  • Medications

  • Feminine products

Clogged shower:

Your shower is used to a certain amount of hair fall per use, and the person cleaning the shower drain typically knows how often to do so. But with the holidays comes houseguests, and with houseguests comes clutter. Prevent a disastrous shower drain with the help of a drain cover. Drain covers allow water flow without the passing of hair strands
